I know what you’re thinking: duvets are a pain. However, if you live in an apartment I recommend buying a duvet cover and using a comforter inside of it.

The reason is it’s so much easier to wash and dry a duvet cover versus a comforter. If you’re living in an apartment building, you probably have an in-building laundry room OR you’re going to a laundromat every week to wash your clothes.  The washers and dryers in buildings are most likely going to be small and there’s a very good chance your comforter will not fit in them. Dragging a full-size comforter to a laundromat is not an easy chore. When you use a duvet you’ll only have to wash that; the comforter inside will remain clean.

Don’t understand the difference between a duvet & a duvet cover? A duvet cover is an enclosed cover in which you can stuff your comforter inside and seal it. It is often constructed of the same types of fabrics as sheets. The duvet insert is typically a blanket or comforter. You don’t even have to buy a duvet insert: You can use the comforter you currently have and just buy a duvet cover to encase it. That’s what I do!

Very good info. I’s important to also wash your duvet at least once a year to prevent bed bugs.
