Unique Ways to Decorate Your Rental Walls

If your walls are empty, your home can feel bare and empty. There is one misconception about decorating rental walls that most people believe, and that’s that you can’t nail into your walls. This is FALSE. You CAN nail into walls as long as you fill the holes upon moving out ?? I think the biggest thing to remember about living in a rental is that renter restrictions DO NOT mean you have to throw all of your design aspirations out the window. There are SO many ways to upgrade your walls, while leaving your landlord extremely happy. Check out a few of my favorite, unique ways to decorate rental walls down below:

Hang Temporary or REAL Wallpaper

Yes, you heard me say REAL wallpaper. We all have heard of peel & stick wallpaper, which has become a favorite among renters. Neon is IN

Add Bookshelves or an Etagere

Don’t want to nail into your walls? An etagere allows you to display your favorite art while also giving you a dedicated space for storage. It’s a win-win!

Cover Corners with Chairs and Plants

Many people leave corners bare, but this is one of the BEST places to utilize for decor! Take a chair you don’t normally use, add some decor on top and you have a beautiful statement piece that involves NO damage to your walls!

PAINT without Asking Your Landlord’s Permission

Hear me out on this one: I know I mentioned above that you have to get permission from your landlord to paint, however, You CAN paint without asking for your landlord’s permission, using THIS creative hack! If you invest in some “paintable white removable wallpaper“, you can paint over it and remove it easily upon moving out. How cool is that?!

Layer your art

Yep! You heard me! How did I do this? It’s as easy as using different-sized nails. Use longer nails for the art you want to “layer.” Once you are ready to move out, just fill in your nail holes with spackling paste.
