Most of us who live in smaller spaces might find it difficult to host due to limited seating options. Other than the sofa (if you even have space for one!), finding the space to incorporate the extra seats you desire may seem impossible.

Well, let’s just destroy that myth once and for all because there IS a way to incorporate more seating into your home, and the solution is actually very simple.

The key is to disguise your seating as decor AND to find not-so-obvious spaces for these extra seating options. Don’t understand? Let me show you a few examples.

I keep a decorative pouf under my coffee table, not only for extra dimension in the space but also to serve as a seat when I host many guests. Keeping the pouf under the coffee table means that no extra floor space is depleted with the addition of the seat.

In addition, I store two faux fur stools under my desk and pop them out when needed. I love these stools because they add such a chic feel to my apartment and look almost too nice to sit on! Like the pouf, keeping the stools under my desk means that any available floor space wasn’t utilized.

In addition to the two stools and pouf, I also have an extra acrylic chair used for decoration purposes. Acrylic will ALWAYS give the illusion that a space is larger than it actually is, which is why I love using lucite whenever possible! I have some extra space between my console table and wall, and decided to place my ghost chair there for a chic effect.

Finally, the storage ottoman in front of my bed is the perfect example of seating that acts as decor. Not only is it the perfect accent to store my sheets and linens, but it also can serve as an extra place for someone to sit and take part in any conversation happening in the living area.
