Happy August, everyone! I can’t believe summer is almost over… I’m not ready for Fall yet!
Since summer is quickly coming to end, I’m realizing how many people, more specifically, college graduates, are getting ready to move into their first apartment. I wanted to go over some must-have items to prepare before your big moving day! These are the same items I prepared a week before my first move in. I suggest buying these BEFORE your move-in date, just so you’re fully prepared once you settle into your new home.
Let’s start off with the bedroom, since this will truly be your own space (especially if you have a roommate!):
BEDROOM:
- Bedframe
- Mattress
- Sheets (buy two sets so you have an alternative to use before doing laundry)
- Duvet cover (also buy two sets like your sheets ^)
- Comforter or duvet
- Pillows
- Pillow covers
- Nightstand(s)
- Curtains
- Dresser
- Full-length mirror
- Floor or table lamp
- Decorative throw
- Artwork
- Small accents/decor
Let’s move on to the living room, bathroom & kitchen. If you live with a roommate, I suggest you purchase half the items and them purchasing the other half. Do not split the cost of everything. This will cause controversy once someone moves out because there will be confusion on who keeps what.
LIVING ROOM:
- Sofa or loveseat
- Coffee table
- Floor lamp or table lamp
- TV
- Console for under the TV
- Curtains
- Chairs if space allows
- Artwork
- Small accents/decor
- Etagere if space allows
- Bar cart if space allows
BATHROOM:
- Bath towels
- Hand towels
- Shower curtain
- Shower liner
- Shower rings
- Toothbrush holder
- Toilet plunger
- Small bath rug
- Toilet paper stand if needed
- Cleaning supplies
- Shower organizers
KITCHEN:
- Pots & pans,
- Utensil holder
- Forks, knives and spoons
- Plates
- Bowls
- Mixing bowls
- Baking pans
- Blender/mixer
- Sponges
- Paper towel stand
- Tupperware
- Trash can
- Ice Tray
- Water filter
- Measuring cups
- Coffee maker
- Microwave if needed
- Can opener
- Oven mitts
- Dishtowels
- Swiffer wet jet
- Cooking utensils
Finally, here are some miscellaneous items that you shouldn’t forget!
- Vacuum
- Batteries
- Extension chords
- Drill and drill kit
- Hammer
- Nails
- Tape
- Command hooks (you never know when you will need some!)
- Lightbulbs
- Firstaid kit
- Flashlight

It’s great that you included some miscellaneous items. Great post!
So can I ask what government agency you got a letter from condo to rent near me get the FAA/TSA approval to have
your FAA Certified Part 107 remote pilot fly this mission as you are well inside the DC Flight Restricted Zone and even inside the 7NM ring requiring a government agency sponsor any flights?
I’d love to be able to legally fly missions like this
but so far have not be able to figure out how
a government agency would be able to sponsor a private, commercial shoot like this.
Thanks!
