I think flowers are the number one thing every home should incorporate into its decor. Not only do flowers mentally make you feel good; they can go with every type of interior style. Most interior design books and interior designers say that faux flowers are a big no-no in a home. So many designers believe fake flowers are tacky and one should invest in buying new flowers every week. If we lived in a perfect world, then sure, I’d agree with that advice. However, we don’t live in a perfect world and not everyone has the time OR budget to go out and purchase dozens of flowers every week. The quote I come across all the time is, “You can even go to your local grocery store and get flowers for $10.” Let me break down the math: Most people have more than 1 vase in their home. Personally, I keep of a vase of flowers in my bedroom and 2 in my living room. That’s about $30 per week you’re spending on flowers which is about $1560 per year. That’s a lot of money!
Faux flowers are the way to go to save time and money. Head to your local craft store and find some pretty faux camellias or hydrangeas. If your vases are clear, buy an acrylic water kit or fill your vases up with new water each week.
If you have the time and money to purchase real flowers each week, then definitely go for it. But if you don’t, and you still want to incorporate flowers into your decor, faux flowers are the way to go.
